Kanye requested his Yeezy Gap collection to be sold out of large trash bags in the middle of the store. So shoppers have to dig through the bags to find the item and size they’re looking for. (Check out a photo.)
A few days ago, Ye said children and the HOMELESS are his biggest inspirations for design. So is the image of someone digging through a trash bag supposed to be a social comment on homelessness? Who knows.
But people aren’t exactly digging the concept. One Twitter user said, quote, “[His] fetish with the homeless as ‘fashion muses’ [is] everything that is wrong with billionaires. They see opportunities to be ‘edgy’ and profit from it.”
Another person said, quote, “As a former visuals manager, I can say this would make me quit my job if I were still on the visuals team.”
