Asking Alexandria Defends Change In Sound As New LP Arrives

Asking Alexandria released its sixth studio album, Like A House On Fire, on Friday (May 15th). Critics acclaimed the record as one of the band's best, while fans seemed to be split on its more melodic hard rock sound.

Lead singer Danny Worsnop addressed the issue directly with a fan online who criticized the band's approach, saying, “To clarify, and perhaps reassure, we had nor have any intention or interest in pushing away fans of the older material. This I guess would (hopefully) have been felt had we been able to tour and play the older songs that we had put back into the show.”

Worsnop added that the band's older, heavier songs are “still around,” explaining, “We don’t want them to disappear or for those who enjoy them to feel like they aren’t appreciated. However at the same time, making more is not something we want to do as we don’t enjoy that.”

Guitarist Ben Bruce told NME that he was disappointed with fans who veered from sincere criticism to personal insults, saying, “Instead of just saying, ‘I prefer the old stuff' — which is fine — (it's) 'I miss the good old days of Asking Alexandria before they got fat, f**king ugly and got s**tty haircuts.' What the f**k does that have to do with anything?”

Like A House On Fire contains the single “Antisocialist,” which is currently Number Nine on the rock radio chart.
