First Female House Majority leader in Illinois Passes Away

The first woman to serve as House Majority leader in Illinois has passed away at the age of 85.

Barbara Flynn Currie served forty years in the House of Representatives, the last 22 as majority leader.

Politicians from both sides of the aisle released statements and sent condolences to her family.

The Illinois AFL-CIO released a statement on Flynn Curie’s death as well.
