Muse frontman Matt Bellamy told NME that he, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard are talking while in lockdown about plans for their ninth studio album. Bellamy said, “I like the idea of totally resetting and going back to where we come from. As in physically moving back to our hometown and getting back to how we used to be at square one.”
The members of Muse grew up in the town of Teignmouth in the English county of Devon, where the band was formed while the three members were in college.
Bellamy added, “We’re likely to get in the studio next year to make a new album of some kind and then tour after that, depending on the travel restrictions. For us, 2020 was always going to be a year to contemplate being off work and off the road. Muse have never done that in the 20 odd years we’ve been going.”
Bellamy said that Muse doesn't have plans to tour until 2022, adding, “We may have done a few shows next year, but we’re lucky to not have many commitments at the moment so we can just watch and see what happens.”
Bellamy released a solo song last week called “Tomorrow's World” and hinted that he could share more music this year, but has no plans to record a full solo LP.
