Today (9.25) is National One-Hit Wonders Day. A day to celebrate those artists who are only known for ‘that one song’ and never had much success after the fact.
Ranker asked their readers to rank the greatest of all-time and as of this morning here’s the Top 10:
- 10. “I Melt With You” – Modern English
- 9. “Video Killed the Radio Star” – The Buggles
- 8. “(There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me” – Naked Eyes
- 7. “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” – Looking Glass
- 6. “My Sharona” – The Knack
- 5. “Come on Eileen” — Dexys Midnight Runners
- 4. “Boys Are Back in Town” – Thin Lizzy
- 3. “867-5309/Jenny” – Tommy Tutone
- 2. “Tainted Love” – Soft Cell
- 1. “Take On Me” – A-Ha
Some may argue that A-Ha is more than a One-Hit Wonder but most only know them for ‘Take On Me.’ What say you?
