The Toronto Film Festival had to briefly delay the world premiere of Lil Nas X’s documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero on Saturday night due to a bomb threat. The rapper reportedly made it all the way to the red carpet before he was told to stay in his car while security conducted a sweep of the venue. The threat was found not to be credible, and the event began about half an hour late. Though a source claimed the threat was directed at Lil Nas X specifically for being a Black and queer artist, Toronto police called it a “general” threat that “did not target any one person.” “Yesterday, at the TIFF, a passerby uttered a threat towards private security,” a police rep said. “Out of an abundance of caution, the Toronto Police and the private security swept the scene and cleared within 20 minutes.”
