The original members of Black Sabbath are reuniting for a historic benefit concert dubbed Back to the Beginning. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward are reforming Sabbath for what is being hailed as Osbourne’s final concert, which will take place at Villa Park in the band’s hometown of Birmingham, England on July 5. Joining the lineup for this heavy metal extravaganza are Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Billy Corgan, Slash, and more, with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello serving as the event’s musical director. “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,” Morello told the Guardian. “It’s my time to go back to the beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” said Osbourne, who will also play a solo set before rejoining Black Sabbath. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal.” The one-night-only charity gig will raise funds for Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice. (Rolling Stone)
