The Illinois EPA has announced a Household Hazardous Waste one-day collection event for Springfield on September 27th from 8a to 3p at Chamberlain Park, 319 McCreery Ave.
Pre-registration for the event is required and residents are encouraged to bring items such as chemical cleaners, oil-based paints, thinners, antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline, kerosene, weed killers, insecticides, and pesticides.
Items not excepted include latex paint, explosives, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, agricultural chemicals, and business wastes.
