Federal Judge Grants Temporary Request to Block National Guard Deployment in Chicago

A federal Judge has granted a request to temporarily block a National Guard deployment in Chicago, saying the move violates the U.S. Constitution.

Judge April Perry ruled that Trump’s Deployment of Troops to Chicago violated the 10th and 14th amendments as well as the 150-year-old Posse Comitatus Act that limits the military’s role in enforcing domestic laws.

Despite granting the temporary block it is not clear when the temporary restraining order will actually take effect and how long it will last.

Judge Perry stated that she plans to issue another ruling on Friday in the case.
