Demolition of buildings on the former Pillsbury Mills property in Springfield continues on a steady pace according to one of the organizers of the site’s renovation.
Chris Richmond of Moving Pillsbury Forward told WMAY’s AM Springfield that environment cleanup is wrapping up and demolition has been steadily progressing. “Since midweek of last week, 20 of the 160 silos have come down,” Richmond said. “(Crews) will probably move toward the C-Mill building on the north end, and that gives them a lot of space for the ground equipment to sort out the metal and concrete.”
Richmond said after the C-Mill demolition, crews will move on to tear down the AB Mill. Richmond said viewers are welcome to watch in the viewing area near the former employee parking lot near 15th Street and Phillips Avenue.
