The Illinois unemployment rate and number of jobs were stable in September according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The state’s jobless rate was 4.4 percent, unchanged from August. The number of nonfarm payrolls in September was down about 22-hundred from August.
Illinois Deputy Governor Andy Manar said although Illinois payrolls were largely unchanged, the latest figures reflect ongoing challenges created by prolonged federal uncertainty.
