The number of nonfarm jobs decline by about 1,700 in Springfield over the year in April according to numbers released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The Springfield area recorded 106,400 jobs in April. The unemployment rate in April locally was 4.1 percent, up from one year earlier.
The agencies report the jobless rate increased over the year in all 12 Illinois metro areas.
