Members of the Black Aldermanic Caucus of the Springfield City Council grilled Police Chief Joe Behl over the arrest of a 14-year-old last weekend.
An officer chased down and arrested the youth suspected of involvement in a shooting.
The teenager was later found to have no involvement in the shooting, but was charged with resisting law enforcement.
Ward 3 Alderman Roy Williams Jr. protested the physical arrest.
Behl said the officer at the scene handled the situation with respect before the teenager began to flee
