Some of the heaviest damage from the severe storms on Wednesday night was at the Animal Protective League headquarters on Taintor Road.
APL Executive Director Deana Corbin said the roofs on the shelter and clinic were blown off. Corbin said APL staff and many volunteers responded quickly and formed an assembly line to move more than 150 animals to safety.
Corbin said donations are welcome at apl-shelter.org and the APL Facebook page will provide updates.
A hangar on the east side of Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport was damaged with debris found along J. David Jones Parkway. Some building damage was reported at the Menard County Fairgrounds in Petersburg.
