The general manager of the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes baseball team says he will step away from his day-to-day role after the current season but will remain part of its ownership group.
Jamie Toole announced the move on the team’s social media on Thursday afternoon. Toole and his wife Melissa Gaynor Toole have led the summer collegiate baseball team since the 2022 season after his group purchased the Sliders franchise in the Prospect League and rebranded it as the Lucky Horseshoes.
After expressing concerns about the condition of the team’s home, Robin Roberts Stadium, Toole led the effort to obtain the facility from the Springfield Park District during the past offseason. He was also instrumental in bringing the inaugural season of the Women’s Professional Baseball League to Robin Roberts Stadium this August and September.
Toole said in his statement that he will continue to support the team as one of its owners despite stepping aside as Chief Storyteller after the current season ends in August. The ownership group also operates Prospect League teams in Quincy and Decatur.
Tooles statement is below.
