The resignation of State Representative Harry Benton is bringing a new round of scrutiny onto Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch.
Various outlets are reporting that Welch reportedly became aware of the allegations of sexual harassment against Benton as far back as 2023.
Despite this information Welch did not remove Benton from committees until earlier this year, shortly before calling on Benton to resign.
