The number of nonfarm jobs in the Springfield area declined over the year in June according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The Springfield metro area reported 106,000 jobs in June, down about 1,700 from June 2025.
The Springfield area unemployment rate for June was 4.3 percent, up from 4.1 percent one year earlier.
