A Ward 4 resident shared with the Springfield City Council during Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting details of her experience being displaced from her home the past 16 months after a company contracted by the city of Springfield reportedly caused the property to flood with blackwater.
She alleged that after several months in a hotel, the responsible company and its insurer abandoned her case and now claim she is at fault.
Ward 4 Alderman Larry Rockford admonished the involved contractor and called the incident an embarrassment on the city.
Community Relations Director Ethan Posey said he will help the woman to connect with city resources.
