A labor union executive says much of the opposition to data centers in Illinois stems from misinformation or no information.
Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers Executive Director Marc Poulos told WMAY’s Patrick Pfingsten on PM Springfield that many who fear artificial intelligence don’t realize how much of AI they already use.
Poulos said AI development has led to advancements in the medical and science world.
Poulos said data centers are just part of many factors requiring electric grid upgrades, but the energy industry appears to be taking on responsibility for expanding capacity.
