A highly contagious virus has been found in cats at the Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center, and the facility asks that no stray cats be brought there for the time being.
Panleukopenia is potentially life-threatening for cats.
The center is also looking for temporary foster homes for cats at the shelter that are not showing signs of illness to help reduce crowding and exposure at the shelter.
