Man apparently asphyxiates himself in bathroom of Municipal Building

Springfield Police personnel were notified early Sunday morning about a subject in the men’s public restroom on the first floor of the Municipal Center East, 800 E. Monroe St., who wasn’t responding.The male was inside a locked restroom stall when he was found unresponsive around 12:49 a.m. SPD officers had to force entry into the stall, where the man had apparently hung himself.Springfield Fire Department personnel arrived and confirmed that the person was deceased.
