Seether has set August 28th as the release date for its eighth studio album, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum. The title of the 13-track follow-up to 2017's Poison The Parish translates to “If You Want Peace, Prepare For War.”
The band has also shared the first single from the disc, called “Dangerous,” accompanied by an animated music video created by Turkish director Mertcan Mertbilek.
Frontman Shaun Morgan said, “These songs are carefully crafted to nestle in your ears like a tiny velvet rabbit clutching a switchblade. This whole album is kind of me going through that process. I'm exposing myself to a degree I'm not normally comfortable with. But I think it's okay. I'm proud to be a little bit more vulnerable on this album.”
Morgan told us a while back that he wanted to be in a band because he yearned to leave something behind: “When I was a kid my dad used to take me around to, like, cemeteries and graveyards and things and you know, you look around and you see all these names and you don't know what they've done in their lives. The main thing for me was, like, I didn't want to become just another one of those stones that had stories to tell that no one would know about.”
Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum also marks the debut of touring guitarist Corey Lowery, Morgan's friend of 16 years, as a full-fledged member of Seether. Morgan said, “Corey has a lot of experience and is an inspiring guitarist as well; he's the older brother I've always wanted.” Lowery joins Morgan, co-founder and bassist Dale Stewart, and longtime drummer John Humphrey in the lineup.
