The Sangamon County Democrats have a new chair.
At last night’s county Democratic convention, retired labor official Diana Carlile was chosen to lead the county party.
Carlile is a former president of the Springfield Trades & Labor Council and former Capital Township trustee.
She replaces longtime Democratic insider Bill Houlihan, who did not seek another term.
Sangamon County Republicans, meanwhile, re-elected Dianne Barghouti Hardwick as county chair.
She was unopposed for a new term. Barghouti Hardwick has been GOP chair since 2021.
