Joshua Ward, the drummer for the North Carolina death metal band Voraath, was killed along with three others by a drunk driver on New Year’s Eve. The tragic car crash took place in Greenville, South Carolina, shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening (December 31st). The 37-year-old Ward was in a car with his fiancee Zelena and two other passengers. They were pulling out of a driveway when they were struck by a car driven by 31-year-old Nicholas Shane Meeks, causing Ward’s vehicle to go off the road and hit a tree, killing all four occupants of the car. Meeks has been detained by police, and charged on four counts of felony DUI. According to Greenville News, Meeks was driving with a suspended license after previously being booked on DUI charges for a separate incident back in March of 2024. A GoFundMe has been set up for Ward, raising over $18,000 that will help cover his memorial and funeral, with all remaining funds going towards his son, Kai. (Consequence of Sound)
