Illinois State Police are investigating after a vehicle was found abandoned in the Sangamon River.
The Springfield Fire Department said a man was fishing Saturday morning when he spotted a car in the Sangamon River.
The Springfield Fire Department found the car under the I-72 bridge over the Sangamon River – just south of Riverton. The Riverton Fire Department and Springfield Fire Department Dive Team assisted with the recovery of the vehicle; no one was found inside.
ISP in investigating how and why the vehicle was in the river.
