City Water Light and Power noted on Wednesday afternoon that crews are presently responding to a few power outages with the severe storm front that came through the Springfield area this afternoon, causing trees and limbs to come down in some areas of the city, damaging electric equipment. CWLP noted that the largest current outage is affecting 453 customers north and south of Lake Springfield along I-55, from Hoechester Road on the northern boundary, to Palm Road and Posts Road on the southern boundary.

Four other smaller pockets of outages affecting under 50 customers have also occurred. This includes:

  • 15 along W Monroe St. west of Chatham Road
  • 11 along Pickering Lane and near the Villa Maria Retreat Center east of Lake Springfield
  • 10 along S Spring St and S 1st St

Customers can view and track their electric service status from the outage map using their street address number and phone number on file with CWLP. It is available from the Outage Center link at CWLP.com at https://outagemap.cwlp.com/.  More information and updates on outage status will be posted as available on the CWLP Facebook and X (Twitter) pages, www.facebook.com/4CWLPwww.twitter.com/CWLP_
