Springfield City Council Approves Transfer of Robin Roberts Stadium to the City

By Greg Halbleib Sep 3, 2025 | 5:28 AM

The Springfield City Council on Tuesday approved the transfer of Robin Roberts Stadium to the city from the Springfield Park District to accommodate the sale of the ballpark to a private entity.

The transfer agreement had been placed on the consent agenda last week. The Springfield Park District will continue to maintain the Stadium until the city moves to sell the property.

Alderman Larry Rockford, whose ward includes Robin Roberts Stadium, told WMAY that the city will issue a request for bids on the property over the next 30 days. The only known interested party at this time is the non-profit Friends of Robin Roberts Stadium.
