Governor JB Pritzker directed flags throughout Illinois to be flown at half-staff in honor of Governor Jim Edgar.

A statement from Pritzker said he considered Edgar a friend and mentor, adding, “His commitment to reaching across the aisle in service of the people of Illinois undeniably made our state better.”

Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias recalled Edgar’s belief in “Three C’s’: Civility, Compromise and Compassion, that serve as the foundation for a healthy democracy.”
