An assistant principal at Lanphier High School charged with battery for an incident with at least two students in September at the school has resigned.

A District 186 spokesman told the State Journal-Register that Christopher Hampsey had been on paid administrative leave since the incident.

A Springfield Police report obtained by the SJR said a student took an aggressive stance within arm’s reach at Hampsey after being told to stop cursing and yelling, followed by Hampsey pushing the student into a corner and punching him, and another student punching and kicking Hampsey after throwing the administrator to the floor.

Two juveniles were arrested. Hampsey pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge on October 20. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 12.
