Illinois State Police and IDOT are teaming up this Thanksgiving to remind you to stay safe when travelling this holiday.
IDOT Says there were more than 2,700 crashes last Thanksgiving, including 15 fatalities.
They advise you be patient behind the wheel and if alcohol is in your plans make sure you have a designated driver or an alternate way home.
IDOT will be partnering with different organizations like the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists to give Illinoisans a ride home through the app, Lyft.
ISP adds that they will increase the number of state troopers out on highways a couple days before Thanksgiving.
