Sangamon County Animal Control is reporting that animal cruelty numbers are up within the county.
Officials are seeing a trend in Springfield residents keeping a lot of animals in their homes that they are unable to care for, including a recent call where they rescued 60 cats from one house.
The agency reminds residents with winter on the horizon to not leave their pets outside in frigid conditions.
