Illinois residents who buy health insurance on the Affordable Care Act marketplace now have until December 31st to select a plan for coverage that takes effect January 1st.
Capitol News Illinois reports the announcement came Tuesday from Get Covered Illinois, the state-run A-C-A marketplace.
They are extending the deadline to give consumers more time to get help selecting a plan for next year.
Most consumers will see substantial price increases next because enhanced federal subsidies that were enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic are set to expire at the end of this year.
People who need help finding a plan for next year can call the Get Covered Illinois customer assistance center at 1-866-311-1119.
Illinoisans who want their coverage to begin January 1 must enroll by the extended deadline of December 31.
They can explore plans, apply for financial help, and enroll at GetCoveredIllinois.gov.
