Tenure-track faculty at University of Illinois Springfield continue on the picket lines today.
UIS United Faculty went on strike on Friday after months of negotiations failed to produce a contract.
The union is seeking a nearly three-percent increase this year and six percent over the next two years.
UIS has offered a one-percent raise they say is consistent with a U of I system-wide salary program.
Instructors say the university’s proposal offers pay increases of only a few dollars per month and does not keep up with inflation. The university has pointed to its fiscal constraints.
