A 14-year-old boy died after a vehicle struck the bicycle he was riding Monday evening at Cook Street and Eastdale Avenue on Springfield’s east side.
Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said staff at HSHS St. John’s Hospital pronounced the youth dead at about 6:45 pm shortly after arrival.
Springfield Police and the coroner’s office are investigating. The boy’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
