City Water, Light and Power reported electricity was restored to more than 16,000 customers in the Springfield area affected by severe storms on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
CWLP said the restoration was completed on Sunday night.
Wednesday’s storms, including an EF-1 tornado with winds up to 110 miles per hour, knocked out power to about 5,600 customers mostly on the city’s north side. Crews restored power to all but about 550 locations within 24 hours.
Thursday’s more widespread storm with 80-mile-per-hour winds left more than 11,000 customers without power, of which nearly 10,000 were restored within 24 hours.
More than 100 CWLP employees and 50 trucks were deployed, supplemented by 40 contract workers and 30 trucks.
