The former sheriff’s deputy convicted of the murder of Sonya Massey in 2024 is asking to be released from prison.
Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser confirmed to the State Journal-Register that Sean Grayson filed a pro se application with the Illinois Prisoner Review Board. A hearing is scheduled for July 31st.
Grayson was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2023 and now has Stage 4 rectal cancer and cancer in his liver and lungs.
