A judge denied the request of Cierra Coker’s defense team on Thursday that would have allowed an expert witness to testify virtually.
Coker is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of 19-month-old Sophia Davis in 2022.
Coker’s first trial on the charges ended in a mistrial.
Judge Jonathan Wright also denied the defense’s request to delay the trial to find another expert witness. Coker’s new trial is now set to begin in 11 days.
