Motor fuel prices in Illinois and the Springfield area remain higher than the national average according to AAA.
The agency reports today average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Springfield is $4.76, down about a cent from yesterday but 33 cents higher than a week ago and 48 cents higher than a month ago.
The statewide average is nearly $4.89 and the national average is $4.47. The price of diesel continues to rise with a Springfield area average price of $6.78, up three cents from Monday.
