The Springfield City Council on Tuesday approved allocating $800,000 in cannabis tax revenue to help several small businesses.
The council sent the approval to the consent agenda of next week’s regular meeting during Tuesday’s night’s meeting of the Committee of the Whole.
Eight small businesses, mostly based on the city’s East side, will each receive $100,000 for renovations and equipment.
The council also approved allocating an additional $750,000 in cannabis tax revenue for similar grants in the future.
