A tense argument about the use of police budget resulted in new policies on communication between city departments and the Springfield City Council.
Ward 6 Alderwoman Jennifer Notariano complained that her questions about the use of budgeted police funds have been ignored by the Office of Budget and Management for months.
That triggered a horseshoe-wide argument that led to Mayor Buscher directing that all responses to inquiries by Springfield alders would be handled by City Council Coordinator Tim Griffin, who will send replies to all members of the council.
