Incumbent Democrat Doris Turner told WMAY’s Patrick Pfingsten on PM Springfield that the state is in better shape in recent years.Turner said attempts to reduce the property tax burden must include a shift in education funding.
Republican challenger, Sangamon County Recorder Frank Lesko, said the cost of living in Illinois is too high. Lesko pushed to have his current office’s role consolidated with the county clerk, adding that many units of government in the state can also be combined.
