The MLB is cracking down on pitchers and the use of foreign substances on their hand and fingers. They will be looking at pitchers using things like sunscreen and rosin. These substances help pitchers get a firmer grip on the ball and throw better spin.
Pitchers will be faced with mandatory checks throughout the game for these substances. Any player who violates the rule will get kicked out of the game and face a 10-day suspension.
The rule takes effect on Monday, June 21.
