The state’s unemployment rate was unchanged from March to April at 5.1 percent with about 11,400 more jobs over the month according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The increases in the number of jobs were in trade, transportation and utilities; leisure and hospitality; and private education and health services.
Total nonfarm payroll jobs were down about 4,500 from one year ago.
