A guitar gifted to Ed Sheeran by Eric Clapton was nearly destroyed in a fire.
Sheeran told Hot Ones that the “Layla” singer gifted him with a signed guitar during a visit to Clapton’s home. It was the only guitar the “Shape of You” singer kept in his home studio, which caught fire while he was on tour.
He told host Sean Evans that the guitar was only minorly damaged although “it smells like a burnt house.” He added, “But it plays amazing, looks amazing, actually kind of smells amazing and it still has Eric’s signature on it. That’s my favorite guitar.”
