Man dead of gunshot wounds as violence continues

The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the Springfield Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 23-year-old male Tuesday afternoon.The victim was transported from the 2200 block of East Spruce Street and sustained fatal wounds in the upper body.He was pronounced dead at 12:40 p.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital emergency room.An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, according to Coroner Jim Allmon.
