Two injured in car, train collision on Camp Butler Road

Two people were injured when their car was hit by a train on the far northwest edge of Springfield Friday afternoon.The incident was called in around 4:27 p.m.According to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s office, an elderly couple traveling eastbound on Camp Butler Road stopped on the Norfolk Southern tracks when the crossing lights and gates were activated.They were subsequently rear-ended by a truck behind them.
