The Sangamon County Coroner confirmed the death of a 51-year-old man who was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s emergency room from the 2100 block of North Dirksen Parkway Tuesday night.
Jerald P. Fahey of Springfield was pronounced deceased by hospital staff at 9:40 pm that same evening.
An autopsy was done on Wednesday, and preliminary findings show Mr. Fahey died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
