Tenured and tenure-track faculty and University of Illinois Springfield have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract to end a 17-day strike.
The university and University of Illinois Springfield United Faculty announced the agreement on a three-year contract after midnight Monday.
Classes are resuming regular schedules today.
Terms of the tentative agreement are not being released until approval from both sides.
Union members are expected to vote on the contract this week followed by formal approval by the UIS administration.
A university statement expressed appreciation to all parties, but a union statement from UISUF President Dathan Powell criticized Chancellor Janet Gooch for “intentionally prolonging this strike through her callous inaction” and called for her resignation.
