Three Decatur police officers have been cleared in the officer-involved shooting of a man pointing a crossbow last month.
Illinois State Police and Decatur Police released police body-cam video of the April 22nd incident on Thursday.
Police were called to a report of an armed man and found 54-year-old Michael Boliard of Decatur with a crossbow.
Officers shot Boliard after he pointed the crossbow at them. Boliard was released from a local hospital on May 5th. He is in the Macon County Jail.
Decatur Police Chief Brad Allen called the officers’ actions “heroic” and said they have returned to administrative duty as an internal review continues.
