Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy Resigns Over DUI Arrest

A probationary Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy as resigned after being arrested for a DUI by the Illinois State Police.

Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch got the notice for ISP about Matthew Klenke on July 12^th.

Klenke was immediately placed on administrative leave as an internal investigation began.

The investigation concluded on July 16^th and it was then when Klenke submitted his resignation waiving any disciplinary hearings.

Klenke had been with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office since Jan 4^th, 2026.
